1. About this policy
This policy explains how We Teach MFL Play collects, uses and protects information when teachers, schools and students use the platform.
We aim to collect only the information needed to provide classroom games, homework, account access, progress reporting, support and billing.
2. Information we may process
Teacher and school information
- Name and email address supplied when an account is created.
- School or department information where supplied.
- Classes, assignments and account preferences.
- Subscription, plan and billing-status information.
- Support messages and other communications sent to us.
Student and classroom information
- Student display names, usernames or identifiers created for classroom use.
- Class membership and assignment information.
- Game participation, answers, scores, accuracy, attempts and completion data.
- Temporary live-game information such as join status and chosen game avatar.
Teachers and schools should avoid entering unnecessary personal information about students. The platform is designed so that students do not need to provide payment information or create a teacher account in order to take part in classroom games.
3. How we use information
- To create and maintain teacher, class and student access.
- To run live games, homework and progress reporting.
- To provide account, security and transactional emails.
- To administer subscriptions and payments.
- To respond to support enquiries.
- To maintain, secure and improve the platform.
- To understand aggregate use of the service.
We do not sell student or teacher personal information to advertisers.
4. Analytics and browser storage
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and product usage. The analytics implementation is designed to operate without analytics cookies. We do not send student names, teacher email addresses, game PINs or session IDs as analytics event properties.
The platform may use strictly necessary browser storage or similar technologies to keep users signed in, maintain sessions and remember essential application state. These are used to provide the service rather than for behavioural advertising.
5. Service providers
We use specialist providers to operate the service, including:
- Supabase for authentication and application data storage.
- Vercel for hosting, infrastructure and privacy-focused web analytics.
- Stripe for subscription and payment processing.
- Mailjet for service and transactional email delivery.
Payment details are submitted through Stripe's payment services. We do not need to store full payment-card numbers in the We Teach MFL Play application.
6. Children and school use
We Teach MFL Play is an educational service intended to be used by students under the direction of a teacher, school or other responsible adult. Teachers and schools are responsible for deciding which students use the platform and for entering only information that is appropriate for classroom use.
If a student's account or classroom record is managed by a school, requests about that record may need to be made through the teacher or school responsible for it.
7. Retention and security
We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain required business records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Records may be deleted or anonymised when they are no longer needed.
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect account and classroom data. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability or other action concerning personal information. We may need to verify a request before acting on it.
Teachers can also contact us about deleting or correcting their account data. Where student data is controlled through a school-managed account, we may direct the request to the relevant teacher or school.
